Zomato Hyperpure, the B2B supply chain arm of foodtech major Zomato, has reportedly leased a 253,421-square-foot warehouse at the Lodha Industrial and Logistics Park in Palava, part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, ET reported.
The five-year lease begins on Feb. 15, 2025, and will cost Zomato Hyperpure more than Rs 85 lakh per month, with an annual rent escalation of 5%. By the end of the lease term, the monthly rent is set to exceed Rs 1 crore.
Notably, the company has already provided a security deposit equal to four months’ rent, according to registration documents from real estate data firm Propstack.
Strengthening supply chain capabilities
Zomato Hyperpure supplies fruits, vegetables and other grocery items to restaurants, and its business has been growing steadily over the past few quarters.
In the second quarter of fiscal 2025, Hyperpure’s revenue nearly doubled to Rs 1,473 crore from Rs 745 crore in the same period the previous year.
Recently, Hyperpure launched its “Express” delivery service to offer faster deliveries, ranging from 30 minutes to four hours and has unveiled plans to set up a processing plant to provide sauces, spreads and other value-added food products to restaurant partners.
Part of a larger expansion strategy
This major leasing agreement follows a successful qualified institutional placement (QIP) by Zomato, which raised around Rs 8,500 crore (about $1 billion).
Zomato said it would use around Rs 2,137 crore of these funds to expand and operate Blinkit’s dark stores and Hyperpure’s warehouses.
In its QIP document, the company noted, “Our ability to grow our quick commerce and B2B Supplies (Hyperpure) businesses depend in part on our ability to grow our network of dark stores and warehouses in strategic locations.”
Beyond Hyperpure, Zomato has introduced new offerings in both food delivery and quick commerce. It recently launched Bistro, a 10-minute food delivery app under Blinkit, and started a 15-minute food delivery service in select parts of Delhi-NCR.
