Food delivery giant Zomato, which battles with Swiggy, has recorded its highest-ever number of orders on Mother's Day (May 12, 2024), surpassing the record orders seen on this New Year's Eve, according to CEO Deepinder Goyal.
Goyal, who is also a Shark Tank India judge, thanked the delivery partners of Zomato and Blinkit, a quick commerce delivery platform, for "making the day memorable for so many others."
Deepinder Goyal thanked delivery partners
"Thank you for making us a part of your celebrations 🙏 I feel it’s truly remarkable how, for a country with so many festivals, NYE, Valentine’s, etc - it’s Mother’s Day that takes the cake," Goyal wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
"A big thank you to all the @zomato and @letsblinkit delivery partners for making the day memorable for so many mothers ❤️," Goyal added.
We have surpassed our highest orders today!

In another tweet, Goyal said the company invited the mothers of its employees to celebrate Mother's Day at the office.
"And here’s the surprise! We invited the moms of our employees to celebrate the day with us at the office. Also got great feedback on how to run @zomato better. So much love all around today❤️," Goyal wrote.

Zomato's New Year's record
In January 2024, Goyal said Zomato delivered almost as many orders on New Year's Eve as it did on the same day in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 combined.
"Fun fact: We've delivered almost as many orders on NYE 23 as we did on NYE 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 combined. Excited about the future!" Goyal earlier wrote on X.
Interestingly, he also mentioned that Zomato received 140 orders every second on New Year's Eve, stating, "8,422 orders were placed at 8:06 PM, which amounts to 140 orders every second."
