Zomato shuts down Zomato Legends

Gurugram-based food delivery giant Zomato, which competes with IPO-bound Swiggy, has shut down 'Zomato Legends’ two years after its launch with immediate effect.

Explaining the reason behind the closure, CEO Deepinder Goyal, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), said that the company couldn't find a product market fit for Zomato Legends.

Zomato Legends offering

In August 2022, Zomato launched 'Zomato Legends,' an intercity food delivery service to offer consumers delicacies from across ten cities in India, delivered right to their homes.

For instance, customers in Delhi could order Biryani from a renowned restaurant in Hyderabad. The premium service featured a curated selection of restaurants known for their high-quality and consistently delicious food.

However, the service faced challenges, leading Zomato to quietly shut it down in April 2023. The company then relaunched the service in July of the same year.
