Beat22, a creator-first beat licensing platform, giving independent artists the tools to connect, sell, and scale their sound, has raised an undisclosed amount in a seed funding round led by SucSEED Indovation Fund, along with participation from prominent investors including Chandigarh Angel Network (CAN) and Prateek Toshniwal.
The startup said the latest investment will help it to accelerate its mission of becoming a leading monetisation and licensing platform for musicians across Asia.
Prior to this, SucSEED invested in SitePace, a Mumbai-based startup focused on transforming construction monitoring through artificial intelligence.
Focused on empowering musicians
Unlike the dominant Western beats marketplace platforms, Beat22 is purpose-built for the Asian music diaspora, empowering musicians to buy, sell, and license vernacular sounds, regional beats, and culturally rooted music assets.
The startup features sales and licensing solutions such as activity-driven lead generation, real-time negotiations, seamless digital licensing, direct bank transfers, and additional monetisation services.
"The music industry stayed fragmented for decades, especially before streaming. While distribution and streaming platforms have done a phenomenal job in bringing structure and reach to the artists, the music creation ecosystem remains chaotic and severely under-monetised. That's where Beat22 comes in. We're here to complete the chain. By organising the highly unorganised world of music creators, we're building tools and infrastructure that help musicians monetise their work from the very first beat," said Ashish Sudhera, the Founder and CEO of Beat22.
Purpose of fundraising
According to Ashish, Beat22 will utilise the raised capital to expand its user base, develop robust and scalable infrastructure, and unlock new opportunities for the underserved music creator community. The startup claims to have acquired over 30,000 musicians and more than 50,000 beats.
"They empower and enable amateur & independent musicians to create professional-quality
music from home. The global music market is undergoing a seismic shift driven by the rise of streaming
platforms, and the increasing democratisation of music production and distribution tools through
platforms such as Spotify for Artists, Soundcloud and Bandcamp. Beat22 is bringing this democratisation
to Asian artists," said Vikrant Varshney, Co-Founder & Managing Partner of SucSEED Indovation Fund.
