Zomato's quick commerce arm Blinkit has reportedly initiated a pilot program to test a large-order fleet designed for delivering bulkier consumer products within the Delhi NCR region, Inc42 reported.

The report said that the fleet is handling items like geysers, air purifiers, luggage bags, and PlayStation5, ensuring delivery within a 10-minute window.

Zomato's large order fleet

The move marks Blinkit’s latest effort to expand its service offerings, following an earlier launch of a large-order fleet for food deliveries by Zomato in mid-April 2024.

"Today, we are excited to introduce India's first large order fleet, designed to handle all your large (group/party/event) orders with ease. This is an all electric fleet, designed specifically to serve orders for a gathering of upto 50 people," Goyal earlier wrote on X.

Competing with Swiggy, Zepto

It's worth noting that Zomato has been intensifying its focus on Blinkit, seeing it as a strategic asset to compete against emerging rivals like Swiggy and Zepto.

In a recent interview with YourStory, Swiggy CEO Sriharsha Majety said that the company is rolling out dedicated infrastructure to support extended delivery timelines for certain categories on Instamart, its quick commerce arm. However, Majety clarified that the company has no plans to deliver large white goods or electronics.

Last month, ET report suggested that Zepto has initiated talks to raise another $100-$150 million in funding from a group of domestic family offices and high-net-worth individuals (HNIs) at a pre-investment valuation of $4.6 billion.
