Peeyush Ranjan, a former chief technology officer at Flipkart and a Google executive, has joined Mukesh Bansal's startup incubator Meraki Labs as a partner.

Ranjan, who is based in San Francisco, is set to play a pivotal role in growing Meraki's presence in Silicon Valley while steering its artificial intelligence (AI) strategy. His appointment marks a significant step for Meraki Labs, which is positioning itself as a launchpad for ambitious AI-led startups.

What did Peeyush Ranjan say?

Speaking about his new role, Ranjan said his focus would be to guide Meraki's AI roadmap and help identify the right kinds of problems to solve. "Meraki's focus is to be a moonshot factory for amazing projects, and in today's day, AI is a key component of that," he told The Economic Times.

"A big part of my role will be to guide the AI vision for Meraki… Not just applying AI for the sake of it."

Ranjan emphasised the value of being located in Silicon Valley, noting that it allows Meraki to access global talent and networks. He said he would be working closely with founders in the incubator to refine their technology and product strategies. One of his key responsibilities will also include shaping the technical direction of Nurix AI, an enterprise AI startup incubated under Meraki Labs.

Building the AI future through strategic leadership

Ranjan will join the board of Mukesh Bansal's AI startup Nurix AI, which raised $27.5 million in seed funding from Accel and General Catalyst in September last year. The startup is focused on developing custom AI agents to handle complex business tasks like customer support and sales—areas that Ranjan describes as tedious, error-prone, and ripe for AI-led disruption.

"The whole opportunity for Nurix is to get deep into business operations and see how AI can be applied," he said, adding that he would assist with designing Nurix's technical architecture and making key leadership hires.

Mukesh Bansal, the co-founder of Myntra and founder of Meraki Labs, welcomed Ranjan with high praise. "With his deep product mindset and engineering leadership, he will play a key role in building new companies, leading our AI vision, and helping Meraki establish a strong presence in Silicon Valley," Bansal said. He also highlighted Ranjan's experience in building large-scale products that have been used globally.
