Furniture company IKEA begins home delivery of products in Bengaluru

Sweden-based furniture retail company IKEA India today announced on Twitter that the company will soon start delivering its products in Bengaluru. Although, At the time of writing this article, Some of the city's pin codes were showing as eligible for delivery on the company's website.

Prior to this, The online furniture retail company was delivering in cities --- Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Surat, and Vadodara. The new step would help the company to expand its reach to customers.

The Pricing of deliveries will depend on the total weight of the product purchased from the platform. According to the company's website, the company currently charges Rs 299 for products up to 5 kg and Rs 499 for products up to Rs 12 kg, going up to Rs 4,449 for products above 200 kg.

Last month, IKEA had launched its online shopping app for Android and iOS, offering features like product recommendations, ratings, and reviews, along with easier searching and browsing experience.

The company first opened its retail store in Hyderabad in August 2018. As part of its long-term growth strategy, IKEA adopted an omnichannel approach to expand its market presence in India. In December last year, The company had launched its retail store in Navi Mumbai.

Earlier this year, The company had rented 100,000 sq. ft. land to set up its retail store in Bengaluru. According to several media reports, the store is expected to be operational by 2022.

IKEA is considered the largest furniture brand globally, followed by Ashley Homestore, Restoration Hardware, and Kartell. In India, the company competes with Pepperfry, Hometown, Urban Ladder, among others.
