Jio brings out Call of Duty Mobile Aces Esports Challenge on JioGames platform

To promote the ongoing growth of Esports in India, Reliance Jio today announced a one-year partnership with Qualcomm CDMA Technologies on its new JioGames ‘Esports platform’. The partnership first led to the announcement of the Call of Duty Mobile Aces Esports Challenge with a prize pool of Rs 25 lakh.

The tournament is open for registration for both Jio and non-Jio users and is set to start from 14th April and will last till 26th April. According to the company, the matches will be broadcasted on JioTV, Esports HD Channel, Facebook, and JioGames YouTube channel. The registration for the tournament has already begun and will last till 11th April for solo players. While 5-man squads registration will be open till 30th April. Qualifiers for the tournament will be held on June 11, and the finals of the tournament will be hosted on June 20, 2021.

"The collaboration between the two is set to bring superior gaming experiences to the gaming enthusiasts across India through multiple contests that will be organized by JioGames on the JioGames Esports platform with QCTAP as a title sponsor," the statement said.

“Mobile gaming is one of the fastest-growing segments in India. Almost 90% of the gamers in India are using their mobile as their primary device for gaming. Apart from superior graphics capabilities, today’s gamers also want fast, seamless connectivity and long-lasting battery life," said, Rajen Vagadia, President Qualcomm India Pvt. Ltd.

This is a new initiative by Jio to address the growing demand for mobile esports, even as mobile internet penetration in India continues to grow. The companies’ ultimate goal is to create more opportunities for gamers, enable deeper collaboration and quality content within the gaming community through the live streams, showcase and nurture the next level of gaming talent to compete and win on International levels," the statement added.

In December 2020, Reliance Jio had partnered with MediaTek to host a 70-Days Free Fire tournament with a prize pool of Rs 12.5 lakh.
