Bengaluru-based online investment platform Groww today announced Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has joined the company as an investor and advisor. The company has not revealed the financial details of the deal yet.
“Groww gets one of the world’s best CEOs as an investor and advisor. Thrilled to have @satyanadella join us in our mission to make financial services accessible in India," Lalit Keshre, CEO & Co-Founder of Groww, said in a tweet.
With this fundraise, Groww will focus on making financial services accessible and transparent to people in India. The company also plans to continue making significant investments in spreading financial education and awareness.
Indian origin Satya Nadella is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of US-based technology company Microsoft.
The funding announcement comes two months after it raised $251 million in a Series E round from a group of investors, including Tiger Global, Ribbit, Sequoia, Propel, Steadfast, among others. That round valued the startup at $3 billion.
Launched in 2017 by former Flipkart employees Lalit Keshre, Harsh Jain, Neeraj Singh, and Ishan Bansal, Groww offers an online investing platform for users who wants to invest in Mutual Funds, Equity market, Fixed Deposit, and Gold.
At present, The online investment platform claims to have over 20 million users on its platform, with 70% of its investors coming from Tier 2 and 3 geographies. It competes with Zerodha, Upstox, Paytm Money, among several others.
