WhatsApp rolls out short video message feature

Meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp today announced the launch of a new feature for Android and iOS users, allowing its users to share short video messages of up to 60 seconds.

WhatsApp claims that the feature is end-to-end encrypted for a secure connection between users.

According to the company, The feature will be rolled out gradually and will be available to all WhatsApp users in the coming days.

In a Facebook post, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveiled the latest update for WhatsApp. The Meta CEO demonstrated the feature through a short video, illustrating how users can utilize it seamlessly. Similar to the process of recording real-time voice messages, the feature will incorporate a video recorder icon located next to the text box.

The company said users who want to access the feature manually can download the latest version of WhatsApp from the Google Play Store or App Store.

The development follows the launch of its recent feature that automatically silences calls from unknown numbers and is now reportedly working on introducing usernames for WhatsApp users.
