Zomato’s Deepinder Goyal clarifies 10-minute delivery won’t compromise rider safety

Foodtech major Zomato recently announced it will be launching Zomato Instant, a 10-minute food delivery service, on its platform. A day after the announcement, Netizens took to Twitter and expressed their anger and concerns about the rider’s safety.

Congress MP Karti Chidambaram too tweeted about how this move was a “ten-minute gamble” on the lives of Zomato’s gig workers.

Responding to the outrage, Co-founder & CEO Deepinder Goyal in a tweet responded with more information on how the platform plans to implement its delivery strategy.

Deepinder Goyal said the new 10-minute food delivery service will be available for specific nearby locations, popular, and the standardized menu only. He also said that the delivery partners will not be informed about the promised delivery time and there will be no penalties and incentives for late and faster delivery.

He further said Zomato will be building new food stations in specific locations to enable Zomato Instant or 10-minute food delivery services for its customers.
