Fintech firm Pine Labs launches Mini, an affordable QR and Card acceptance device

Indian merchant commerce omnichannel platform Pine Labs today announced the launch of 'Mini', a QR and card acceptance device for small business owners.

Pine Labs says the new device will be available at about one-third of the price of a regular Point of Sale (PoS) terminal, making it affordable for merchants. 

"QR-based and card tap payments are a perfect solve for Indian consumers on the go. On the merchant side, an absolute must is a fast checkout experience and elimination of the cost barrier in point-of-sale digitisation," said Navnit Nakra, CRO of Pine Labs.

The development comes more than two months after Qwikcilver, which provides end-to-end gift card and stored value solutions, partnered with Etihad Airway to enable the seamless issuance of refund and compensation vouchers through Qwikcilver's Asset Manager solution. In May 2023, Pine Labs partnered with Indian private bank ICICI Bank to enable the acceptance of digital Rupee on its PoS terminals.

POS, or Point of Sale terminals, are electronic devices used by businesses to process payments via card or UPI (QR).
